Dr. Apostol Vassilev is a Research Manager at NIST with 12+ years experience leading cutting-edge AI security initiatives. Currently spearheading NIST's adversarial AI efforts and published the internationally recognized Taxonomy and Terminology of Adversarial Machine Learning. He leads robust AI development for autonomous vehicles and co-authored NIST SP 800-218A on secure software practices for generative AI. Previously managed CMVP modernization, successfully automating cryptographic validation programs and earning a Department of Commerce medal. Pioneered Entropy As A Service (EAAS) technology with successful industry transfer. Collaborates with OWASP on agentic AI security and mentors students across all academic levels.
